THE TERRIBLE 2's....

As if a switch had flipped, our little angel adopted his new favorite word - "NO!" as soon as he turned 2. Isn't that adorable? He is still deep down a sweetie pie, we just have to dig a little deeper into the pie to find the sweet part these days....We had a fun party at the Rollingwood Park with lots of friends, food, cake ice cream, popsicles, and most importantly, mimosas for the adults. The theme was Mickey Mouse and the high point of the party was a visit from Mickey himself. Cal was over the moon -until Mickey picked him up at which point he loved it for about 10 seconds. Long enough for a great photo which is all mom cares about these days. He was in a great mood for the whole party until we started packing stuff up in his little red wagon and then things turned sour pretty quickly. Six month old Griffin was a trooper who loved honking Mickey on the nose and having all mom's single girlfriends' attention. All in all, a successful celebration, considering that our house was so under construction, we could barely get dressed that morning.

TEAMWORK
Who says a couple of 2 year olds can't play well together? It took some work, but we finally learned how to take turns and play as a team. Take a look.

DANCING QUEENS
Check out the smooth moves of Cal & Russell on the boat. Solid Gold dancers, here we come!

RUSSELL'S LAKEHOUSE

We took one for the team and drove 6 hours to our cousin Russell's lakehouse in Oklahoma for some family bonding time. The drive was a bunch of no fun but we made up for it when we got there. Cal had a blast driving the boat and Griffin enjoyed his duties as first mate. Everyone drank beer, of course.

GRIFFIN CHOWS DOWN

He wasn't quite 6 months old but already showed a STRONG interest in food. So we took the plunge over July 4th weekend and started on some baby food. I think you'll agree after viewing this video that Griff was more than ready for it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!

We had a great July 4th celebration complete with a visit from the Meroney clan. Nana, Big Daddy, Uncle David and Aunt Tina (as she is now called) drove to Austin and we spent a lot of time in the pool beating the heat. We also went to our old fashioned neighborhood parade where Cal loved the firetruck and the people throwing candy. We finished the day off with fireworks - Griffin stayed home with his Aunt Meredith while the rest of the crew watched on Town Lake. Cal was impressed but kept looking behind us to see where the other noise (echo) was coming from. Pretty cute. We also made two trips downtown to see the bats so there was plenty of activity to keep us all busy.
