SIX MONTHS OLD!! January was unusually cold in Austin this year so we spent the month indoors perfecting our rolling skills and practicing the crawl. We have it down - in reverse. We are still working on forward motion but Cal gets around really well by rolling. He also taught himself how to make a "raspberry" sound (complete with spit) and started on rice cereal near the end of the month. He still gets more on his face than in his mouth but he enjoys the process. We also got our "official" 6 months photos taken by a professional. They turned out great and are available for viewing at http://www.kappy.com/ - click on "Client Photography" and enter "Meroney" for username and password. We are so proud of our little cowboy!

KISSIN' COUSINS
We arranged a visit with Cal's cousin Q, his Aunt Russ and Uncle Amy in January since we were unable to see them during the holidays due to Q's illness. The Phillips clan joined us in Austin for a weekend and the boys had a ball rolling around on the floor together and sharing toys. Only 6 months apart, we hope they stay close and know there are more good times ahead for them to share.

ICE STORM 2007
We know it sounds crazy, but during the week of January 16, 2007, Austin experienced a rare ice storm that paralyzed the city. They even cancelled the inaugural parade and moved the ceremony inside. We enjoyed some extra downtime as a family and even got outside a little to enjoy the rare winter scene. When our power went out for 15 hours, we headed over to Grama & Grampy's condo to borrow their heat. We found out Cal is a big sissy when it comes to cold weather so we mostly stayed inside roasting marshmallows.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
After 8 days on the road, we were so happy to be home we threw a party! Not to be stopped by the impossible task of finding a babysitter on New Year's Eve, we invited some of our friends with little ones over (and some without) and put them all to bed while we rang in the new year. Of course, Cal couldn't stand to miss the celebration so he woke up at 11:30 and refused to go back to bed until we had watched the ball drop. Good thing we had extra party favors!
